Is your Little into all things science and nature? Here are some online resources you both can enjoy together from home from live animal cams to space exploration!
Explore Animals & Nature
Zoos are popular among kids anytime, and the same goes for their online versions. The San Diego Zoo has a page for children on its website with games, tutorials about animals, and videos (check out the always entertaining Baboon Cam).
The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta has 10 underwater webcams, including one called Gator Crossing. Also new is an At-Home Learning page on the site that includes a "Deep Sea Learning” video series, coloring pages and other resources for kids!
Explore Space
NASA at Home offers ebooks, virtual tours, podcasts, and videos, all to linking the agency’s work to science, technology, engineering, and math.
Younger children can learn to launch a balloon-powered “rocket,” and older ones can use the NASA Home and City web app to see how science changes their world. The Artemis mission to the moon, scheduled for 2024, has its own landing page, filled with cool graphics and details.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum presents Virtual Astronomy Live every month — with opportunities to meet astronauts — and multiple aviation- and space-themed programs. (next one 7/16 at 4:30PM CST) https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/
